The Truth About Doing It Alone (Spoiler: Teamwork Is the Real SuperPower)

We are often led to believe that success only counts when we achieve it alone. This is one of the biggest myths holding us back. The reality is that no major accomplishment in history was ever truly solo. Behind every “individual” achievement is a team. Even Olympic gold medalists, who stand alone on the podium, have entire teams of coaches, trainers, and supporters behind them.

As first-generation women, trailblazers, and ceiling-breakers, we often feel pressure to prove ourselves, to show the world that we can do it without help. But here’s the truth: leaning on others does not make us weaker, it makes us stronger. Support is not a crutch, it’s a SuperPower.

Here are three steps to build and embrace support on your journey:

1. Share your goal. Your Amigas can only support you if they know what you’re aiming for. By sharing openly, you invite accountability, encouragement, and valuable feedback.

2. Enable their strengths. Everyone brings something different to the table. Let your Amigas contribute their unique talents. Not only will this strengthen your journey, but it also allows them to feel part of your success.

3. Celebrate together. Success is even sweeter when shared. Plan your victory celebration and remember to give credit to those who supported you along the way.

At La Primera, we know no trailblazer walks alone. Behind every first-generation success story is a circle of support, love, and encouragement. You don’t need to carry the weight alone. Gather your Amigas, lean into their support, and remind yourself Today is a Happy Day!
