The Power of Your Circle: Honoring Amigas Who Lift You Up

As the founder of La Primera, an organization created to support first-generation women who are breaking ceilings and rewriting family legacies, I’ve learned an important truth: doing it alone is not strength, your Amigas are.
So many of us were raised to believe independence meant carrying everything on our own. But the truth, reflected time and time again by many Amigas, is that teamwork is the real superpower. A strong circle of Amigas provides clarity when the path feels uncertain, encouragement when doubt creeps in, and creative solutions when roadblocks appear.
I personally have a strong group of Amigas around me. Watching them succeed fuels my own motivation. Their wins remind me that the long-term vision is worth the effort. And on the days, I need support, I know they will meet me with honesty, wisdom, and encouragement. La Primera is only possible because of my Amigas, women who show up consistently, celebrate deeply, and believe boldly.
This time of year is a season of togetherness, gratitude, and reflection. It’s the perfect time to honor not just the success, but the Amigas who made it possible.
Here are 3 intentional steps you can take to strengthen your circle:
1. Identify Your True Amigas - Who checks in without being asked? Who challenges you to think bigger? Write their names down.
2. Express Gratitude Intentionally - Send a handwritten note. Host a small dinner. Take a walk together. Let them know exactly how they’ve supported you. Details matter.
3. Grow Together With Purpose - Use your circle to brainstorm, dream, and problem-solve. Amigas help you stay focused on long-term goals while creating new pathways forward.
At La Primera, we believe success is sweeter — and more sustainable — when shared.
You are not alone. Together, we rise.
Today is a Happy Day!
